Women - Showers
Baby Showers and Wedding Showers Policy
Bridal and baby showers for individuals within the church will be initiated and given by friends, family, or life group of the honored individual. Women’s ministry will, when asked, provide some event planning suggestions and/or support for the people coordinating the shower.
If the individual has no one to plan the shower, women’s ministry will find an appropriate woman available to coordinate.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you hear of someone who needs a shower (bridal or baby): The shower should be initiated by friends, family, or others with close ties to the woman being honored, such as a life group. If you hear about someone needing a shower but don't know anyone or don’t want to host the shower yourself, feel free to reach out to womensministry@siloambible.org, and they will help you find someone to host.
Can the church facilities be used to host the shower? Yes, if the space is available, it can be used free of charge. Email ssbc@siloambible.org to request a space and confirm the date and time are available. Arrangements will have to be made for unlocking the building and making sure the HVAC is at an appropriate temperature.
If the church facilities are being used, what items are available to use? Tables and chairs are available in almost every room. Table linens are available for use, upon request, if you or the hostess can launder and return them. Some decorations are also available for use, upon request, and will remain the property of SSBC. Decorations are typically housed in the discipleship center behind the auditorium stage. Arrange a time to meet with a church employee who can show some of the options. (It would be good to have a list of items with pictures and counts, etc.)
What would someone who's hosting a shower at the church need to supply? Plan to supply food, drinks, plates, napkins, and silverware. Also supply any special decor. Basically everything but tables and chairs needs to be supplied separately.
How do showers get advertised? Send an email to ssbc@siloambible.org with the information and request it to be listed in the bulletin as an announcement. Further advertising can be done on social media by the hostesses. All advertising will name the hostess (or hostesses) and list her as a contact for the shower. The church will not sponsor a shower but will provide advertising for it. Women's Ministry will not host or sponsor a shower.
What if the shower is for someone who doesn’t currently attend SSBC? SSBC will not advertise the shower in the bulletin or on social media but the church will allow the hostess to use a space in the church, as availability allows.
What if this is their second, third, fourth, etc. baby? The SSBC staff and Women’s Ministry will advertise a Diaper Drive and ask people to donate diapers and wipes to a collection box in the foyer for a few Sundays. (This might be an option for someone’s first baby if no one is available to host a full shower.)
